San Fermin Festival Revelry
Showers of wine have been poured in Pamplona, Northern Spain, as thousands of people in red scarfs came to city plaza to celebrate the opening of the San Fermin festival. Experimental headlight system can see through rain and snow
Driving at night in falling rain or snow can be treacherous, but not just because the asphalt is slippery – visibility is also greatly reduced, as the driver’s view of the road ahead is obscured by brightly headlight-lit raindrops or snowflakes. In the future, however, that may not be so much of a problem. A team led by Carnegie Mellon University’s Prof. Srinivasa Narasimhan has developed an experimental headlight system that renders most foreground precipitation virtually invisible, while still adequately illuminating the road beyond.
Parrot on the plane
On reaching his plane seat a man is surprised to see a parrot strapped in next to him.
He asks the stewardess for a coffee where upon the parrot squawks "And get me a whisky you cow!"
The stewardess, flustered, brings back a whisky for the parrot and forgets the coffee.
When this omission is pointed out to her the parrot drains its glass and bawls "And get me another whisky you idiot".
FRIENDS FOREVER!
A good friend can guide us out of difficulties, and a bad friend can lead us into undesirable situations. Friendship is not to be taken lightly. It is the only relationship in which two individuals are equal.
A father always remains a father, and there can be no switching of roles between father and child. A man, however wise, still treats his father with respect. A son would hesitate to offer his father advice, or even to point out his mistakes to him. It is not a relationship marked by equality.
